Rhian Ashby beat the Pride of Derby Junior boys in the club’s final winter league match of the season.
Ashby came out top as the juniors fished the Trent & Mersey Canal at Stenson Bubble with a 9oz 6drm net. Ben Sharratt finished runner up with 2oz 1drm, ahead od Tom Potters 1oz 8drms.
Despite not finishing in the top three, Harry Wilkinson took the overall title with 10 points. Sharratt’s second placed finish meant he finished as runner-up overall, while there was a three way tie for third place between Potter, Ryan Brown and Adam Logan.
Nationals
Sat July 3rd saw angling clubs from all across the country come to fish for the Angling Trust Nationals on the Trent and Mersey Canal through Willington to Swarkstone.
Pride of Derby Juniors entered teams in the junior and intermediate events
The intermediate team of six
Tom Parkin (capt) 230gr 10pts
Cameron Hughes 410gr 12pts
Rayan Miller 380gr 14pts
Sam Randall 370gr 9pts
Mathew Parkin 820g 14pts
Eric Yeomans 2 kilo 880gr 16pts
This gave the team 75pts putting them in second place and collecting the team silver behind Wakefield AC
Eric Yeomans also won a section gold and 3rd place bronze in the indivdual standings
Over in the Junior event
It was the Prides Junior team who dominated the match. With no section winners they posted anglers in the top 5 of
every section. Although no big fish where caught it was the juniors skill with the squatt and pinkie that saw them take
gold.

Tom Potter finished 7th overhall earning him a place in the Junior Fish o Mainia to be fish at Cudmore live on sky
It was disappointing that the club could not muster a cadet team but the Pride Juniors Eathan Rockley fished for Leeds Cadets and came away with a team silver

Tom Potter at Junior Fish-O-Mania
Tom qualified by finishing in the top eight in the junior nationals for the Pride of Derby Juniors
Fishing chop worm and caster Tom stuck to the match plan of feeding heavily but a fish-less first hour cost him the chance of picking up the £500 winner takes all 1st prize.
Feeding 3 pints of caster , 3 pints hemp and a kilo of chop worm Tom started to get the fish to feed and a late run in the 3 hour match saw Tom miss out by the token of one fish

Anthony Potter:
Tom finished a very respectable third and as you can see from the weights it was very close between the top three. He was gutted to miss out by only one fish but after catching nothing in the first half of the three hour match he did well to finish where he did.
He has come such a long way in a short period of time and we are all extremely proud of him.
The Juniors are holding there next match at Brailsford Silverfish lake Sat 31st July

Challenge Shield Report
Pride of Derby Juniors fished a double header this weekend the first match was for the challenge shield on the Brailsford silver fish lake, coming out on top was Jake Hemmings who used his prowess on commercial venues to weigh in 56lbs 14oz, Jake used long pole fishing pellet to the far bank catching f1 and a few better carp. Coming in in second was Oliver Crookes with 26lbs 14oz using the same tactics as Jake. Making up the top 3 was Adam Logan on 18lbs all caught on chopped worm and caster.
The second match was the Stanton trophy fished on the Stanton canal at Ilkeston. Harry Wilkinson put in a star performance fishing the squat and pinkie and with 2 bonus bream on chopped worm saw him take first place with 9lbs 13oz. Ryan Brown caught the fish of the day in the shape of a golden tench for second place with 2lbs 8oz. Adam Logan clinched third place the second day running with 1lb 15oz.
The next junior match is on Sunday the 22nd of August the venue will be the Attenborough gravel pits meet at the Sawley train station carpark Long Eaton for 8am
